Era impensável que o técnico da mulambada entraria jogando atrás, com uma maioria esmagadora de torcedores na arquibancada, com o apelo emocional da tragédia dos meninos e com o elenco de 100 milhões que possui.
Começou o jogo e o Flamengo não passava do meio de campo, todo acuado, esperando um erro do Flu para matar o jogo. As vezes ensaiavam uma pressão e o Flu recuava a bola, colocava no bobo e saia para o ataque. Essa supremacia não conseguia chegar ao gol rubro negro, parava sempre na intermediária adversária, com lentidão e falta de capacidade técnica, que convenhamos, o Flu ainda tem. A tática covarde poderia até ter dado certo numa roubada de bola que chegou a Bruno Henrique, travado providencialmente pelo Airton, ou num escanteio qualquer que o zagueiro Rodolfo fez nosso arqueiro trabalhar.

No fim do primeiro tempo, eles tinham dois bons momentos e o Flu nenhum, mas era nítido que um time ficava com a bola tentava jogar futebol a qualquer custo e outro se acovardava, recuado, esperando o jogo acabar ou uma chance cair do céu.

Assim se deu o golpe final, não antes do gandula ter sumido do Maracanã. Que humilhação!
Aos 47 minutos, mais uma pressão na saída de bola do Fla, mesmo cansados estavam lá nossos guerreiros. Arrascaeta, o craque rival, tenta uma saída calma, sem dar chutão, mas ele não é treinado pelo Diniz.
