Caio Paulista comenta seu momento e fala sobre as desconfianças da torcida: “Sou muito trabalhador”
Uma das contratações contestadas da torcida para o ano, o atacante Caio Paulista, enfim, vai começando a mostrar seu valor no Fluminense. Após um início de temporada, onde demorou para engrenar e se encaixar no estilo do treinador, o atacante desencantou – anotou seu primeiro gol como profissional, diante do Atlético – e vem sendo utilizado por mais vezes por Odair. Hoje, brigando pela titularidade na equipe, o camisa 70 comentou seu início e a importância do apoio do ídolo tricolor:
– Sou um jogador muito trabalhador. Estive sempre trabalhando. Talvez quando eu vinha entrando nos jogos, não estava encaixando muito nas jogadas, mas os companheiros sempre me deram moral, conversando. O Fred sempre falando “faz isso, faz aquilo, faz 1-2 comigo”. E estou muito mais solto quando entro nas partidas, estou bem mais solto. Estou carregando a bola, aparecendo para o jogo. O gol também me ajudou muito, me deu mais tranquilidade.
Titular no último jogo, o atacante conseguiu apertar a saída de bola e quase que anotou mais um. E sobre a concorrência no ataque, Caio comentou sobre as oportunidades que Odair vem dando aos nomes de frente do elenco:

– Claro que tem a concorrência, muitos atacantes, jogadores bons. Ele procurou dar oportunidades a todos. A concorrência tem em todos os clubes. É uma coisa sadia. É bom porque todo mundo vai evoluindo – e segui, em outro trecho – O Odair vinha me dando bastantes oportunidades. Tive a lesão na mão, por isso fiquei afastado de alguns jogos, mas estava sempre entrando nos jogos, tendo oportunidades. O gol que fiz foi muito bom para mim, para minha carreira, para eu respirar e creio que sairão outros em breve. Sempre quando entro, o Odair pede para dar bastante profundidade ao jogo, ser participativo, tanto na questão ofensiva, quanto na defesa. Ele pede para ajudar na marcação e, quando temos a bola, aparecer para o jogo, dar amplitude.
Por fim, Caio ainda comentou sobre o momento vivido pelo Fluminense na temporada e sobre se isso é ou não uma surpresa para o elenco:
– Dentro do clube não foi nenhuma surpresa, pois trabalhamos duro todos os dias, somos um time gigante e de ponta de tabela. Continuamos trabalhando a cada partida para subir mais e colocar o Fluminense no lugar que ele deve estar. São as boas atuações que o time vem tendo no campeonato. Para nós, a colocação que estamos é totalmente normal. Temos um grande time, grandes jogadores, é uma grande equipe. A cada jogo estamos mostrando isso dentro de campo e vamos continuar nessa evolução e sábado vamos conseguir mais três pontos para alcançar mais uma colocação.
O atacante é um dos cotados para iniciar o jogo contra o Fortaleza, no próximo sábado. Com o retorno de Luiz Henrique muito em cima, e a ausência de Fred, as chances dele ser mantido no time são grandes. O Flu ainda treina nesta sexta, e segue depois para Fortaleza.
