Em uma partida mais estudada e com poucas chances claras de gol para ambas as equipes, Fluminense sub-23 e Botafogo sub-20 empataram por 1 a 1 no Engenhão.
O jogo começou muito parecido com o primeiro: Fluminense apertando a saída de bola para recuperar a posse no campo do adversário. Logo no início da partida, em uma ataque do alvinegro, Guilherme e Rafael Navarro se chocaram, o lateral-esquerdo do Flu saiu de maca, mas nada de grave aconteceu e o jogador retornou ao campo.
O Fluminense permaneceu com a estratégia de forçar o erro do Botafogo, aos 3 minutos conseguiu recuperar a bola perto da área, porém na hora do último passe, Cristian errou e desperdiçou uma chance de marcar. Aos 8 minutos, Luís Henrique achou Lucas Barcelos com um passe pela direita, o atacante cruzou para trás, Gabriel Capixaba finalizou rasteiro e o goleiro Saulo defendeu em dois tempos.

A partida ficou um tanto quanto truncada, com os dois times com pouca eficiência na hora de decidir as jogadas, um perde e ganhe constante nas zonas centrais e laterais do campo – Sem nenhuma chegada com perigo de ambos os times por boa parte do tempo.

Aos 32 minutos – após uma cobrança de escanteio de Gabriel Capixaba – a bola pipocou dentro da área e Martinelli puxou um voleio, mas a bola não pegou tanta força e facilitou a defesa do goleiro do Botafogo.
Aos 36 minutos da primeira etapa, o lateral-esquerdo Guilherme – que já havia sentido após um choque no início do jogo – saiu mancando após uma jogada e caiu no gramado. Desta vez, não teve condições de continuar e foi substituído pelo camisa 16 Diogo. Aos 39, Rafael Navarro calçou por trás o atacante do Flu, Lucas Barcelos, e recebeu o primeiro cartão amarelo do jogo.
O Botafogo voltou para o segundo tempo com algumas alterações. O goleiro Saulo número 1 deu lugar ao goleiro Diego camisa 12; Maxuel camisa 11 saiu para a entrada de Matheus Nascimento número 1. A partida obteve uma intensidade maior no segundo tempo. Aos 10 minutos, Gabriel Capixaba roubou uma bola pela esquerda e cruzou, Lucas Barcelos testou para o gol e o goleiro Diego fez boa defesa. Aos 13 minutos o zagueiro tricolor, Caio Vinícius, entrou mais forte no atacante do Botafogo e recebeu cartão amarelo – o primeiro do Flu no jogo.
Em bom ataque pela direita – aos 15 minutos – Lucas Barcelos chutou cruzado e a zaga do Botafogo rebateu, a bola voltou para o próprio atacante tricolor, que já meio sem ângulo, finalizou na trave. Botafogo seguiu sem chances para assustar o goleiro João Lopes. Matheus Pato número 19 e Matheus Cassini 17 entraram no time do Flu no lugar de Lucas Barcelos número 9 e Cristian número 11, respectivamente.
Após roubada de bola no meio campo, Luiz Henrique partia com a bola em velocidade, mas Vitinho o segurou, não deixou que desse continuidade na jogada e recebeu cartão amarelo pela falta. Falta perigosa para o Flu aos 26 minutos, Gabriel Capixaba cobrou e a bola subiu muito, passando longe do gol alvinegro. Mais uma mudança na equipe do Botafogo: Wendel camisa 5 deu lugar ao Rai camisa 14.
Passados 28 minutos de jogo, Rafael Navarro conseguiu recuperar uma bola dentro da área tricolor, porém a finalização saiu fraca e rasteira, João Lopes defendeu sem sustos. Mais mudanças na equipe do Flu: John Kennedy número 20 entrou no lugar de Gabriel Capixaba número 7; Daniel número 2 deixou o campo para a entrada de Marcos Pedro número 18.
Aos 33 minutos, após uma cobrança de escanteio pela esquerda, a bola chegou até John Kennedy que finalizou em cima da zaga do Botafogo, a bola subiu e Diogo puxou uma linda bicicleta para marcar o primeiro gol do Tricolor das Laranjeiras. Golaço no Nílton Santos, Fluminense 1 a 0. Gol que reflete melhor a superioridade do Flu na partida, que possuía um volume maior de jogo.
Nascimento entrou com uma força desproporcional em um carrinho no meio-campo e recebeu o segundo amarelo do Flu na partida. Aos 39 minutos, entrou Marlon camisa 16 no lugar do 10 Vitinho, essa foi a última mudança do Botafogo. Em mais uma jogada de velocidade de Luiz Henrique, Kauê fez falta por trás e recebeu cartão amarelo. Nascimento cobrou novamente por cima do gol.
Logo no fim do jogo, em bate-rebate na área do Flu, a bola se ofereceu para Rafael Navarro de frente para o gol, que finalizou no canto esquerdo do goleiro João Lopes e empatou a partida. Fim de jogo no Engenhão, 1 a 1.
