Equipe sub-23 tricolor já começa a ser moldada
A equipe sub-23 tricolor respirou aliviada após a confirmação do Brasileirão de Aspirantes pela CBF entre outubro de 2020 e janeiro de 2021. O projeto foi inciado no começo deste ano, entretanto o futuro estava dubitável por conta da pandemia causada pelo novo coronavírus, e que dessa forma alavancou uma indefinição no calendário. O diretor de futebol do Fluminense, pioneiro na ideia do time de aspirantes, afirmou em entrevista ao GloboEsporte.com:
– A confirmação da CBF da realização da competição nos traz um alívio. Estávamos muito preocupados que não houvesse em função da pandemia. Essa competição dará a esses jovens, que estão no Fluminense há algum tempo, a oportunidade que necessitam para poderem desenvolver ainda mais a capacidade técnica deles para o que o clube pretende, a utilização deles na equipe principal.
Neste sábado e no próximo, a equipe sub-23 já terá o seu primeiro desafio. Anteriormente aos amistosos entre Fluminense e Botafogo, ocorrerá uma preliminar entre os times das categorias de base dos clubes. O Tricolor das Laranjeiras utilizará a o time de aspirantes. Por outro lado, como não instituiu o mesmo projeto, o Botafogo mandará a campo o elenco sub-20.

Marcão, comandante do grupo sub-23, começou a moldar a equipe no decorrer da semana. 30 atletas formam o elenco sub-23 e estes estão segmentados em dois grupos. Um treina com os profissionais no mesmo horário – com alguns exercícios em coletividade e outras em campo separado – e o outro em horário distinto.
Aqueles que já participam dos treinos com os profissionais largam na frente na formação da equipe sub-23, são eles: os goleiros João Lopes e Pedro Rangel; os laterais Calegari, Daniel e Guilherme; os zagueiros Luan, Higor e Caio Vinícius; os meias André, Martinelli, Nascimento e Gabriel Capixaba; e os atacantes Luis Henrique, Lucas Ribeiro (Macula) e Lucas Barcelos.
