– Eu recebi a notícia ontem. Os resultados não são os esperados, estamos com dificuldade na reta final. Após a comunicação ao Marcelo, a direção me chamou e me avisou que eu comandaria o time. Eu por trabalhar com Abel, sigo essa filosofia. Não dá e não é hora de inventar muito. O trabalho é entrar na cabeça do jogador, fazer o simples e um grande jogo. Não foi porque eu fui escolhido para comandar o time que passei a falar com Abel. Falo sempre, assim como com outros. Ontem, por exemplo, falei com o Odair, do Inter. É claro que, por eu ter proximidade, a gente conversa. Mas ele tem a vida dele, eu a minha. Eu até. Ele ficou contente, ressaltou a grande responsabilidade que é estar à frente do time. Ele me pediu que eu fizesse o que eu sei, que colocasse em prática os meus conhecimentos.

Qual o tamanho do desafio?
É gigantesco. O Fluminense não se encontra no lugar que deveria. A gente passou a temporada toda brigando por alguma coisa. No Carioca, estivemos a um passo de conseguir algo mais. Na Sul-Americana, batemos na semifinal. No Brasileiro, com a sequência negativa, perdemos a chance de ter algo melhor. A ideia é ajudar, colaborar para não brigar pelo rebaixamento. A queda significa uma série de dificuldades, como queda de receita. Sem falar a paixão do torcedor. Por tudo isso, sinto a responsabilidade que tenho. Mas também sei da competência e que o trabalho pode nos tirar dessa situação.
Abel irá ao jogo no domingo?
Eu acho que ele não vai. Ele assiste muitos jogos. É um cara estudioso. É incrível a capacidade dele de estudar e de se aprimorar. Ele vai torcer e acompanhar. Sempre que pode, dá a opinião dele.
Integrará a comissão de Abel em 2019?
Não dá para pensar nisso ainda. Estou focado no jogo de domingo. Queremos vencer. Respeito o América-MG e o Givanildo. Porém, o Fluminense é muito grande. A torcida exige a vitória. Depois do jogo, em dezembro, vamos ver. Eu não sei o que vai acontecer. Penso em tirar o Fluminense dessa situação. Apenas isso.
Eu venho trabalhando no futebol faz muito tempo apesar de ser jovem. Sempre na área de análise dos adversários. Conheci o Abel em 2003 na Ponte Preta, ao trabalhar com meu pai. Depois disso, rodei e voltei a trabalhar com ele em 2006 no Internacional. Meu pai faleceu em 2012, e o Abel me convidou para trabalhar no Fluminense. Cheguei faltando um jogo para o término do primeiro turno e fomos campeões.
Eu continuo com meus estudos. Estou matriculado para a licença PRO da CBF. Não é algo que tenha de ocorrer neste momento. Eu trabalhei com vários treinadores, inclusive com o Givanildo que será meu adversário no domingo.
