Flu pode não ter o Maracanã para as fases preliminares da Libertadores

Na última sexta-feira (10/12), o Maracanã iniciou as obras que darão lugar a um novo gramado, agora, do tipo híbrido. O novo modelo é composto por uma mistura de grama natural com fibras sintéticas. Inicialmente, as obras estão programadas para durarem 90 dias e o retorno é esperado para as semifinais do Campeonato Carioca 2022. O estádio, casa do Fluminense, pode desfalcar a equipe em jogos da Libertadores nesse período.
O Tricolor das Laranjeiras disputará no início de 2022, as fases preliminares da Copa Libertadores. A equipe terá pela frente a segunda fase da competição, que acontecerá nos dias 23 de fevereiro e 2 de março. Caso o Time de Guerreiros avance, ainda enfrenta mais uma fase qualificatória. A terceira fase está programada para acontecer nos dias 9 e 16, ambos de março. Conquistando a vaga para a fase de grupos, a data de início está programada para 6 de abril, quando se espera que o estádio esteja em perfeitas condições de jogo.

Atuando no Maracanã pela Libertadores 2021, o Flu disputou cinco partidas, venceu duas e empatou duas. A única derrota foi na fase de grupos, quando foi superado pelo Junior Barranquilla pelo placar de 2×1.
