O presidente do Fluminense, Mário Bittencourt, concedeu uma entrevista coletiva na manhã desta terça-feira (25), no CT Carlos Castilho. Após a demissão do treinador Fernando Diniz ter sido comunicada na tarde da última segunda-feira (24), o presidente se colocou à disposição para falar sobre o acontecido, e sobre outros assuntos relacionados à continuidade da temporada de 2024.

Com a saída do treinador, algumas perguntas sobre possíveis técnicos a serem procurados para comandar o Fluminense foram feitas. Um dos questionamentos foi sobre rumores de o presidente não gostar de estrangeiros para comandar a equipe Tricolor. Mário Bittencourt deu sua opinião sobre o assunto:

“Por que eu não gostaria de um treinador só porque ele é estrangeiro? Eu tenho um colombiano jogando aqui, um argentino, tenho uma série de estrangeiros jogando aqui no Fluminense. O que eu acho sobre treinador estrangeiro é que vale a pena você contratar se você conhece o trabalho, e que tipo de trabalho ele fez. Você vai me perguntar: “Como você vai saber isso?”. Eu vou saber isso olhando o trabalho dele e conversando com pessoas que trabalham com ele.”

Ele procurou explicar o motivo de não optar por treinadores estrangeiros com exemplos próximos do Fluminense. Há clubes no Rio que, atualmente, tiveram experiências tanto positivas quanto negativas quando o assunto são técnicos vindo de fora do país:

“Eu vi o Luís Castro trabalhar aqui, então ele é um excelente treinador porque eu vi o Luís trabalhar no Brasil. Não estou fazendo críticas mas vou dar o exemplo do oposto, o Vasco acabou de tirar um treinador com quatro rodadas e depois eu fiquei sabendo que esse treinador começou a carreira dele em 2020, foi o que disse o repórter que transmitia o jogo. Então é um treinador pouco experimentado e o fato de ele ser estrangeiro não quer dizer que ele seja experimentado para dirigir um time em qualquer lugar do mundo, principalmente no Brasil.”

Ele comentou sobre a gestão de alguns clubes que hoje optam pelo trabalho de técnicos estrangeiros, elogiou o desempenho dos treinadores e demonstrou interesse no trabalho desenvolvido por eles:

“Tem muitos (treinadores) que deram certo e muitos que deram errado, e os que estão dando certo são em clubes que tem ou uma gestão muito sólida, que é o caso do Fortaleza, ou tem uma condição financeira de contratar grandes jogadores como é o caso do Abel Ferreira, um treinador espetacular. Se um dia o Abel Ferreira não tiver no Palmeiras, eu gostaria de trazê-lo para trabalhar no Fluminense. Ele é um treinador estrangeiro que eu conheço porque eu estou vendo o trabalho que ele está desenvolvendo no Palmeiras, então eu já consigo avaliar”. E completou: “Eu vejo o Palmeiras jogar, o Botafogo jogar, o Fortaleza. São treinadores estrangeiros que eu admiro. Se eu tiver a oportunidade, um dia eu gostaria de trabalhar com o Luís Castro, com o Abel Ferreira ou o Vojvoda.”
