Caminhada do Flu no Brasileiro começa no dia 9 de agosto; Confira o retrospecto da década
O Fluminense começa a caminhada no Brasileirão em Porto Alegre no dia 9 de agosto, às 19h, contra o Grêmio na Arena. O elenco se reapresentou no CT Carlos Castilho na tarde da última segunda-feira (20), já visando a preparação para o campeonato nacional e a Copa do Brasil.
Há oito anos o clube não conquista um título de expressão. A Primeira Liga em 2017 e as taças Guanabara (2017) e Rio (2018 e 2020) deram um alento à torcida, mas o último troféu relevante de fato foi o de campeão brasileiro em 2012. Elenco e diretoria prometem brigar por coisas maiores esse ano, e de fato o time desta temporada tem condições de almejar coisas grandes nos dois torneios que disputa. No entanto, se quiser levantar um troféu ou ao menos se classificar para a Libertadores, o Flu terá que superar em muito suas últimas campanhas. Nos últimos nove anos, a melhor posição que conseguiu em uma edição do brasileirão foi um 3° lugar em 2011. Em 2015, chegou na semifinal de Copa do Brasil, perdendo nos pênaltis para o Palmeiras. No primeiro jogo, 2 x 1 para o tricolor. No segundo, 2 x 1 para o alviverde.
Nossa reportagem foi buscar o retrospecto tricolor nos campeonatos nacionais nesta década. A equipe ficou de fora das edições da Copa do Brasil de 2011 e 2012 por ter participado da Copa Libertadores da América em ambos os anos (disputou também em 2013), graças a conquista do brasileiro em 2010 e de um 3° lugar em 2011. Em 2012, foi campeão nacional novamente. Na Copa do Brasil de 2013 (quando os times da libertadores passaram a disputar também o torneio nacional), o Fluminense foi eliminado pelo Goiás nas oitavas de final, três meses depois de ter sido eliminado da competição continental pelo Libertad-PAR. No Brasileirão, quase um vexame. Terminou em 17° lugar e seria rebaixado para a série B, mas graças a vitória contra o Bahia na última rodada e a punição de Flamengo e Portuguesa pela escalação irregular de jogadores, o Flu alcançou a 15° posição e se manteve na série A.

Em 2014, ficou na 6° colocação no brasileiro. A partir de 2015, não conseguiu mais ficar entre os dez primeiros colocados, conquistando o 13° lugar em 2015 e 2016, o 14° lugar em 2017 e 2019 e um 12° lugar em 2020. Nas edições da Copa do Brasil, foi eliminado em 2014 na terceira fase pelo América-RN. Em 2015, como citado acima, perdeu a semifinal nos pênaltis para o Palmeiras. Foi eliminado nas oitavas de final em 2016 e 2017 por Corinthians e Grêmio, respectivamente. Em 2018 foi eliminado pelo Avaí na terceira fase, e em 2019 foi eliminado novamente nas oitavas de final, dessa vez pelo Cruzeiro.
Individualmente, o Flu obteve destaques individuais em algumas das edições dos brasileiros dessa década. O tricolor teve o melhor ataque da edição de 2011, com o atacante Fred sendo vice artilheiro, com 22 gols. Em 2012, mesmo ano do último título brasileiro, Fred conseguiu a artilharia, com 20 gols. O tricolor teve o segundo melhor ataque (atrás do Atlético-MG) e a melhor defesa (Junto com o Grêmio). Em 2014, Fred foi novamente o artilheiro da competição, com 18 gols.
Nesta edição da maior competição do país, o Fluminense já vai começar enfrentando pedreiras. Nas dez primeiras rodadas, vai enfrentar seis times que estão na libertadores. São eles, na sequência, Grêmio, Palmeiras, Internacional, Athletico-PR, São Paulo e Flamengo. Destes seis jogos, três serão como mandante (incluindo o clássico contra o Flamengo) e três como visitante. Com as datas modificadas, o campeonato está previsto para acabar somente no próximo ano, no dia 24 de fevereiro. Para a Copa do Brasil, a previsão de término é para o próximo ano, no dia 10 de fevereiro. Nela, o tricolor enfrenta o Figueirense pelo jogo de volta, no maracanã, ainda sem data definida.
